And if for some reason you don't know who Michele Bachmann® is, I'll sum her up for you in 3 words...
BAT SHIT CRAZY
REASON #2 - Target Supports and Funds the Anti-Gay Agenda
Target, practically everyone's favorite discount retail store, is headquartered in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. But along with precious bodies of water, Minnesota is home to some pretty rabid anti-gay politicians and groups. Among them include Tom Emmer. And Target, it seems, is apparently filling his campaign coffers with nearly $150,000.
Follow the money. At least, that's the message delivered by an article at sfist.com by Matt Baume, who tracks $150,000 from Target's coffers, through a political action committee (PAC) known as Minnesota Forward, all the way to Tom Emmer, who himself supports a Christian rock band in Minnesota that travels around the state saying that it's moral and righteous for religious people to kill gays and lesbians.Target's $150,000 Donation To Fund Anti-Gay Politics
Also....
Target tried to force gay rights groups from canvassing in front of their stores in California. Then the law got involved and now they are allowed to canvass in front of Target Stores.
Judge rules gay rights group can continue canvassing outside Target stores in California
But Target should know that we won't forget the effort.
REASON #3 - Target is Anti-Women's Choice
As you may recall, Target is letting its pharmacists refuse to fill your order for emergency contracptive pills (Plan B, as it's called) simply because they find your prescription immoral. Target is now saying that they'll fill your prescription in a "timely manner" at another pharmacy, or at their pharmacy at a later time (presumably when their holier-than-thou employee is on break).
I already have a priest, and he doesn't work at Target, thank you.
But Target feels otherwise. In fact, Target is now claiming - quite incredibly - that its employees' religious fanaticism is covered the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Yes, apparently Target employees are allowed to not sell you things based on THEIR religion. That's an absurd, and rather dangerous, legal statement from Target.
AMERICAblog
While plenty of Corporations donate to causes and politicians, it's usually to further their agenda (Make more money). Most of the time though, the causes they push are mostly relevant to business. Target is special because they are also donating to social causes and strong far-right social Republicans.
This is what I have been talking about. Now corporations are actively trying to shape our social politics as well as our economic politics.
If you don't like this, you should stop supporting it.
Boycott Target

I haven't shopped at Target in 5 years, since the whole "I don't have to fill your prescription because my religious beliefs say you're bad" thing. And now I have 2 more fantastic reasons to never shop there again. Thank you. Kind of.
