Citizens United on Steroids

If corporations didn't already have enough influence and power in our country, they just had a little help gaining more. That's the only point, right? Some call it capitalism, some call it greed.

I'm talking about this.....

"Federal Judge Overturns Ban on Corporate Political Contributions"

The Citizens United Ruling by the Supreme Court was just the beginning of a series of power moves to allow corporations to gain more control than you will ever have over your own government and elected officials. Citizens United applies only to independent corporate expenditures, which means corporations could secretly donate uncapped amounts to PACs and Organizations involved in politician's campaigns but not directly to the campaign itself.

Well if the Reagan-appointed Judge James Cacheris's opinion became reality, corporations could secretly donate unlimited amounts of money directly to politician's campaigns.

So for example, Koch Industries could directly give $1 Billion to their loyal employee, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to help combat the humiliating defeat he has coming in the recall elections this summer and his own in january. It would be 100% legal to do so and you, a citizen cannot compete with the resources of a corporation. While $1 Billion is probably not even enough to save Walker, it wouldn't hurt him either. Let alone the entire Republican Party that will be rewarded for staying true to the corporate agenda, giving them their tax cuts, letting them do whatever they want. They will drown Democrats in money. Just like they did in 2010

This ruling would repeal a law that was put in place over 100 years ago to prevent the corporate takeover of our democracy and government.

And one thing about this keeps gnawing at me....

Aren't these the same corporations that claim they cannot afford a slight raise in taxes, even though many don't pay taxes at all? The ones that say the rules and regulations we put on them to protect workers, the environment, and protect consumers are draining them? The ones that say they need tax subsidies/corporate welfare to stay afloat?

It's so sad. You could almost feel sorry for them if you ignored the facts. The fact that big business have been making record-breaking profits under President Obama, who we are told by the GOP, is an anti-business President. However, lack of logic and facts has never stopped them before.

And if you ignore the fact that since the financial crisis, corporations have donated record amounts of money to politicians and political organizations. Obviously that was not enough, they want to invest more. There's something about a corporation that can't afford taxes and rules but has millions to give to it's political agenda that makes my common sense flare up. Some call it capitalism, some call it greed.

On the bright side, this ruling could take up to 2-3 years to make it's way up to the Supreme Court. This basically means we have maybe 2-3 years before this happens if the Supreme Court stays the way it is. This ruling is the start of the next step in the corporate takeover of our democracy.

And speaking of the Constitution, Doesn't it state that the role of government is to protect us from enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC?

Doesn't the constitution say something about 'general welfare' and repeat the phrase 'We the People' over and over?

Sounds almost as socialist as the Bible....

"Jesus said unto him, if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven" - Matthew 19:21-22

"Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless" - Ecclesiastes 5:10

"You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge' - Psalm 14:6

  1. Bravo!!! My new hero:) I love the trademarks. The PEOPLE need to take back their country from the facists. The only way is election reform. Must level the playing field by having publicly-funded elections. Ruling class against that because they fear actual equality.

  2. Thank You! :) I agree, our fight is at the ballot box, but we must ensure that it is a fair fight. The republicans are trying to level the playing field in their favor. Democracy is one of the most important things we have, we must protect it.
